D'artagan The dusty, familiar old shop. I glanced at the clock hanging against the cracked wall. It read 12 o'clock. How accurate whas that? Now was 9--and in the morning too. Letting out a slow yawn with a curled smile, I abruptly pushed open the glass door with one paw. It creaked with unease, as though revealing something terrible inside. Rolling my amber optics, I stalked onto the marble floor, taking care not to step on the glass shards. No one ever stepped on them, it was as though the remnants from the past contained a jinx or caused misfortune. No human ever came back here again, not even the nosey reporters. No humans meant no cleaners. I mean, which canine in his right state of mind would stoop so low to pick up the trash? Listen here--humans pick up the litter left by us canines. We don't do this kind of work for them.
The shop really was a sorry sight. Most of the shelves had been toppled over and all the metal cans of food had either been chewed on or played with. All the dents of metal lying on the floor, rusted, was such a terrible sight. The walls cracked, everything dry and hard. Letting out a sigh for the hundredth time, I headed further, amber optics flashing left and right. Good, not a soul in sight. You never knew the sunners, especially those who always wanted to pick a fight. Going to my spot at the right hand side corner of the shop right at the back, I lay strewn upon the cardboard and let my lids half-drop. Last night was one of the wildest I had been in, being chased by some other mooner that wanted to tear the bone right out of me. Of course, he failed, once more---miserably.
Showing my gleaming teeth, I licked around my teeth for remnants from last night's dinner. Another yawn and a low, threatening growl hit the air before my head slumped onto my paws. I stayed half-consciouse though. You never know when someone wants to jump over fallen trashcans with you. [/blockquote] time: morning, 9 a.m comments: open to anyone XD word count: approx 380. ISIS † caress the one, the never fading rain in your heart, the tears of snow white sorrow
A quite yawn escaped Isis as she stepped out of the dark shadows of a building in the town, the sunrays shone down onto her golden fur, making it look even brighter in the light. A soft smile graced the mooners mouth as she stretched after the small nap she had just had. The last time she had closed her eyes it had been coming towards dawn, around five in the morning and she was a completely different being back then, however, upon opening her eyes she was back to the same normal Isis that appeared every time the sun was out. Last night had been a rather quite night, she hadn't clashed with any dog from what she remembered, mooner or sunner alike hadn't bothered her a few hours ago. However, because of this Isis was starting to feel a rather lonely feeling within her chest, she hated it when she didn't have someone to socialize with. After her stretching was complete, Isis padded off down the abandoned streets of Dogsong, no familiar faces were to be seen, which caused her to frown slightly that everyone she knew wasn't here right now. "Probably all sleeping like cats." She muttered lightly with an edge of humour to her soft tone.
The golden canine didn't know where she was going as she continued to walk, she knew her way around Dogsong from the back of her paw, however today she just let her paws take her, walking without a destination. The sudden scent of prey caught her attention, causing her to stop in her tracks, she didn't dare move an inch as she spotted what the scent was coming from. In front of her, nibbling on a small piece of newly grown grass, was a plump rabbit. It's wiry fur was oak brown and it's little cotton white tail was facing towards Isis, as well as it's back. Isis knew that rabbits were fast little creatures and she, nor any other dog, was no cat when it came to stalking that only left her own speed to get this rabbit before it took off and hide in it's warm burrow. She continued to stay still for a moment, she dare not move as the rabbit kept on eating the fresh grass under his paws. In a split moment, Isis broke out into a dash, head bent low to snatch up the rabbit within her jaws. Much to Isis's pleasure, the rabbit reacted to slow and was soon hanging limp from the golden canine's jaw.
With her prey caught and now with something to fill her stomach, Isis carried the rabbit towards the nearest shelter to eat the rabbit before a Sunner came and tried to snatch the rabbit for themselves, or decide to go after her. Quickly, Isis trotted into the old groceries store, inside was shaded and cool, she was pretty sure that no sunner would come and hide out in a building while the day was just getting started. Though Isis decided it would probably be for the best if she checked the area anyhow, so after dancing around the shards of glass that littered the floor she placed the rabbit near some left over cardboard boxes, hiding the fresh food from sight as she scouted the area.
Trotting down the shop aisles, she sniffed the air that lingered carefully, there was a faint smell of a dog, however Isis was sure it wasn't a sunner. Reaching near the back of the store, her chocolate brown eyes caught sight of a shape lying upon some cardboard boxes, seeming to be resting. Isis let out a soft and relieved sigh that the dog was not a sunner, which meant he was a mooner, like her. She gazed at him for a few moments, staying her distance as she did not want to disturb him from his slumber, she allowed a small smile appear on her features.
caress the one, the hiding amaranth in the land of the daybreak

D'artagan The air was still--too still for an ordinary day. And something was definately wrong, the feeling you get while you lie there helpless and open to any form of attack. The paranoia of imagining something watching you started to creep over my bones and spine. My nerves twitched and tensed. What if that canine was dangerous, had a bone to pick with you or even worse--was a sunner? I jerked my muzzle up and let out a threatening snarl, scanning the area. Instinctively retreating, brindle hindquarters coming in contact with the right angled corner of the room. Oh no. That was bad. Wrong move, D'artagan. You just showed how insecure you are. I pinned back my audits.
Blinking and letting the light adjust through the filters, amber occs fell upon a sandy-white dog with a small smile playing upon her maw. Quietly, deep down, I let out a sigh. A mooner, just like me. But that smile was plain annoying. It reminded me of a smirk, a smug look. Friend or foe, I still did not know. Glaring at her, letting all the intensity burn a hole right through her, I spoke a litle harshly.
What do you want, stranger?
I calmed down a little. Now that I had the time to slowly clear my mind, I formed my impression of the female, looking at her features discreetly. Her short coat was a nice light tan, it in fact held a certain smoothness and gloss to it. But of course, as always, I preferred mine. Her ruff belly had a nice, even touch of white flowing down. Reminded me of a milk splash. I brought my optics back to hers. A darker shade than mine, but soothing none the less. It seemed as though she had good intentions, I could not sense any anger or mistrust in them. She must be a patient one. Realising what a fool I had been to be scared of her, I straightened myself up. Still linking my optics with hers, I took a few steps forward. At least I should introduce myself. ISIS † i don't mind where you come from as long as you come to me, and i don't like illusions, i can't see them clearly
I watched as the male blinked once or twice, I was curious on what he would react like, I was secretly hoping he wouldn’t have woken up at my presence, for I did not want to be the annoying type of dog which wakes random dogs. The soft smile on my face vanished to a calm and rather neutral expression as I saw the look of thunder in his eyes, almost like he was shooting lasers right through me. I felt a shiver race down my spine at his glare, obviously I had picked the wrong place to eat my breakfast and the look he was giving me was making me feel rather uncomfortable. This dog was clearly not in a good mood and normally under these situations, I would probably leave right about now, so a fight could be avoided if need be. However this time, I felt glued to the spot as a looked back at him, not in the mirror look he was giving me but a rather calm, not to mention surprised look. Maybe it would be best if I turned and left the store now, however, just as my paws were about to move his voice stopped me from doing so.
My guess was correct, he clearly did not sound happy at all and the tone of his voice annoyed me slightly, though I didn’t show it on the outside. Today though, I wasn’t here looking for a fight with the other canine residents of Dogsong and with no intention of a clash of words or teeth, I allowed myself to calm before I got irritated enough to snap at him. "I’m sorry for disturbing you." I bowed my head once, as if to show to him that I wasn’t here to piss him off and that stumbling across him was purely by accident. "I was just checking that I could rest here for a while in safety, since the sun is out and all." The corner of my lip twitched in a half smile for a moment, hoping that he would understand that I was here to stay out of the Sunners way for an hour or so. I took this time to discreetly take in the appearance of this dog, it didn’t take a genius to see that he was clearly bigger than myself, even though he was on the ground and I was still standing. His fur was pretty long in length and a golden brindle, the opposite of my short golden coat. His eyes as well, which were still fixed upon me, were a brown in colour, however the gaze that was transfixed upon me now did not seem to be that of annoyance and hate like before, just a little bit calmer. Though that didn’t mean I could or should, keep my guard up in case he decided to take a sneaky snap at me.
My folded ears twitched slightly at the small howl of the wind which brushed against my fur, obviously it had picked up over the time I had been inside and the weather had taken a small turn for a rainy day. The sun that streamed in through the windows vanished slightly, causing the large room to drop a little in temperature and the natural light of the room to get a little darker. The breeze howled like a dog in agony as it raced into the room through the few broken windows, the odd bits of rubbish danced and fluttered across the floor and I ignored a tin can as it rolled past my paws, though I did drop my gaze from the brute to the litter for a second. I was just glad that I had been out during the duration of the sunny weather and was now inside, at the moment, if the rain decided to pour. I remembered the last time I had been stuck in the harsh cold rain in the Winter, I had had the worst cold for weeks after that and felt terrible with illness. I was in no hurry to be struck down by some sort of cold again.
I blinked a couple of times as the male spoke to me once again, this time, he sounded less annoyed and he even gave me his name. D’artagan, Dart for short I gathered in my mind, though I dared not call him it right now, a nickname was probably reserved for one of his friends, not someone who just interrupted the peace and quiet. " My name’s Isis." I kept it short and sweet, no need to go into the ‘nice to meet you’ crap since I was pretty sure he wasn’t so thrilled to be in my presence right now. Though you never know, maybe sometime he would think it was good to meet me, though I didn’t put my hopes up too much, it had seemed like ages since I had last had a good meeting with another dog, hopefully, this would be a good experience instead of a bad one.
i don't care, no i wouldn't dare to fix the twist in you, you've shown me eventually what you'll do

D'artagan The seconds seemed to tick by, and my tail twitched ever so slightly. I must have succeeded in giving this sandy dog a shock, though she somehow managed to stay there without moving an inch. I could sense the sudden tenseness of her bodice. A smirk almost graced by maw. It was only by my slight sense of understanding that kept me from doing so. I reasoned to myself, she was innocent and all, there was no need to aggravate the situation. She did look naiive with that expression. Sharp occs could tell that she was a little annoyed though. I felt a little bad for jumping at her like that, but when it comes to strangers, you never know.
I kept expressionless, and the she-dog continued on. She was not only apologising, but was even telling me what her purpose in here was for. Her well-formed, golden head dipped a little and I was inclined to do the same to her, she being so polite and all. Most of the other canines would either stalk away or get mad with me, which would sometimes result in a fight. But her temper was well controlled and held in--something that was quite special and rarely seen. I returned her half smile with a short one, my audits back up again in alertness. Just like me, she was avoiding the sunners.Aye, I have the same intentions as you, lady. I was talking old-fashioned. I did not always do that though...this usually happened when I was drier and just had nothing to do.
Silence fell and I felt a little awkward.
Amber occs went to the large glass pane just a little off the left. All the markings and paint had long faded away. The whole chunk was dust covered and several parts of it carried spider web patterns. With a mere push of a paw, even a pup could break it. I was not feeling destructive at the moment though and silently moved over and placed my fur covered paws onto the wooden pane. Haunches rippled back and I stretched to the front, parting my jaws to let go a puff of hot breathe. Almost at once, the layer of grey dust flew off and a neat round shape was formed. Just enough for one to see through the glass. Bending lower now and stretching my hind legs, one good eye peered through the transparent area, onto the street and further on.
The sky was definately getting dark, and the clouds rolled towards north like a herd of thundering horses. Darkness closed in upon the tiny city almost at once and I shuddered as the shadows fell. A harsh wind raced in from the broken windows at the back, sending my fur rippling sideways. Blinking to clear the dirt and grime that threatened to flood my optics, I continued to gaze forward. On no, I was looking right at a gruesome dog. Its whole skeleton showed through and it was float-walking. A sunner. Abruptly, I pushed myself off the window pane and walked back to the female. It seems that some sunners might want to come in here to find shelter too I mused flatly. Looking at the litter, I was transfixed for a moment as a dried leaf carved a swirling pattern on the ground as it danced with the wind.
I would have thought the mooner a mute had she not talked. After an introduction of myself, hers soon followed."My name's Isis." The name sounded...familiar. Perhaps I had heard it off the streets. It was a really nice name nonetheless and so much shorter and easier to remember than mine. Still staring at a tile pattern, I muttered my thoughts just loud enough for her to hear. A nice name, Isis. Glad to meet you. I whipped my head up suddenly and shot her a grin, flashing my incisors. Now that was completely random, but I suddenly felt high. For one, I loved the rain, it provided much coolness in such a sun-kissed place.
The first drop of rains were already beginning to sound and the pitter-patter was getting increasingly crashing. Curse the sunner who enters the grocery store.
Word Count=738 Status= finished Comments= finally, time to do a proper post! Sorry about the chronological order though. Slight confusion before Isis introduces herself.
