YOUR DOG - NORMAL
name; ; Talyu
age; ; two years
gender; ; female
breed; ; greyhound
type; ; mooner
siblings; ; Sigrar (deceased), Sigurd, Sigmud (all half-siblings, technically. Males.)
appearance; ;
Talyu is a lightly built, medium-sized female greyhound, with the typical characteristics of the breed..long legs and tail, lean body, and sharp head. She is, of course, a running dog and sighthound and is therefore very lean and muscular, with large golden eyes. She can sight things from a very far distance and run as far as she can see.
Her fur is silver-gray, aside from her paws and chest which are white. Talyu has a tic in her left eye, which is not always yellow..it is during the afternoon, but slowly changes from orange to red as it gets dark. Her breath stinks terribly unless she eats mint, the only other hint of what lies under the gray fur and cocky demeanor.
Talyu carries herself proudly, determined not to let anyone see that she has any problems at all. Her head and tail are always carried high in the air and she swaggers along, even when she is looking over her shoulder to see if she’s being stalked by others. She speaks very quickly and often in a sharp tone of voice and scowls alot.
Talyu is rarely seen at night, and evades any questions by those who want to know what she does then. She is only seen in the daytime, and, interestingly, rarely leaves the shade even then.
personality; ;
She is a natural braggart and very self-assured, but not so much that she looks down on other dogs..well, not all other dogs. Talyu dislikes stupid or wimpy dogs, but others she is willing to be friends with if they can stand being bossed around. Talyu, being a natural leader, doesn’t like to follow someone else and tends to take command of any group she happens to be in. Fortunately she is good at it and her instincts are all right, so she doesn’t lead anyone into disaster..well, not anymore.
Talyu has a healthy paranoia and is typically suspicious of others. She keeps this well-hidden beneath a fierce, swaggering exterior, pretending not to be nervous while she checks new dogs out. If they pass the test, Talyu will be friendly enough. If not, Talyu will carefully fade into the background and away from them. She might pretend to be vicious, but Talyu really isn’t great at fighting and has little wish to engage in skirmishes.
There is a certain protective instinct to Talyu, like many female dogs, and she’ll gladly lay her life down for a weaker creature..pups, elders, random dogs on the street. So long as nobody tries to protect her in turn, Talyu is willing to do anything for anyone. An attempt to help her will result in a damaged ego, and Talyu knows well that her ego is about the only thing between her and insanity. Fearless she is not, but Talyu is extremely proud and therefore will pretend to welcome death and danger in order to save face.
Talyu runs through emotions like a train on a track..she can go from anger to sleep in seconds, and be awake again a moment later to swagger around boasting in her usual way. This is mostly due to her constant, hidden nervousness, which causes her to be extremely jumpy. She disguises this by trying to seem angry, which works well. It also means that she tends to have a headache, and is even more snappish than usual. The general effect is an irritated, egotistic dog who is always checking around..just in case.
history; ;
Talyu is the youngest of her family, born several months after her three brothers..Sigrar, Sigurd, and Sigmund..were old enough to take care of themselves, but not old enough to leave on their own yet. She was fairly normal then..a cheerful, excitable puppy, who barely noticed that her brothers were half-breeds and she was a pure-blooded greyhound. Talyu, like her brothers, was born a mooner. At the time she was a blue dog at night with fuzzy bat-like wings and a brush of feathers on her head.
The months before the accident were fairly uneventful. Talyu and her brothers, unfortunately, were very adventurous and tended to wander off and get into fights, but Sigmund (he was the biggest pup) was even more protective than she is and made sure Talyu didn’t get into trouble.
Then one night the dogs decided to go for a trip. This, of course, was to the one place they weren’t allowed to go..the laboratory. Their mother had, of course, warned them that it was dangerous and they were likely to get into trouble. Of course they went there - where else would they go?
Everything seemed fine at first. The puppies shoved into the building and scampered down flights of stairs. It seemed like a great place to play hide-and-seek..tables, stairs, hallways. Everything a dog needed for a good game, in other words.
The puppies kept going down into the laboratory, and eventually found themselves inside a strange room with a big machine in it surrounded by glass. The glass walls around the machine - a reactor, if they’d known - were broken already. Sigrar led the way into the enclosed area, swaggering up to the machine to show his bravery.
Sigurd found a button, next, and pressed it with his nose. The machine roared to life, scaring all the puppies away for a second. They came back, though, to run around the machine in circles.
That was when it exploded. Sigrar was inside..he died immediately. The other dogs were just outside the room and survived, although Sigmund burned himself. The puppies waited for the fire to go down, then crept in. They sat beside their dead brother, and, although they might have meant to bring him back, fell asleep like any young animal would after a shock.
The next night Sigrar came back to life..different. At one point he’d been a blue dog just like his siblings, with black markings down his back and a fine brush of spines all over him. Now the fur was gone and the spines as well, leaving a hairless dog. Sigrar had red eyes and blood came out of his mouth..and, worst of all, he wouldn’t die again. Sigurd tried first, and snapped Sigrar’s neck. All that happened was the dead dog turned around and bit him.
Sigurd was brave, but not that brave. He turned and ran into the night, not knowing what had actually happened.
The other dogs all tried at once..Talyu and Sigmund. Sigrar bit Talyu, who scampered away, but not Sigmund, who knocked him down and finally managed to bash his head in. The dogs ran away..all but Sigurd, who was gone. They weren’t sure where he was.
They never got home, because, by the next night, it was obvious that something was different. Where Talyu used to have fur, she was now losing it. Her blue eyes were turning red and the downy feathers on her wings were falling out. And there was definitely something different about her. No longer was she an adventurous and slightly silly puppy at night..now Talyu was grown past her age, murderous and paranoid and as tricky as a fox. It was obvious that Sigrar had passed on whatever his problem was, although since Talyu wasn’t dead she had a brain to fight the urge to kill everything in sight. Obviously they couldn’t return to their mother. Sigmund decided they would spend the night in the old church while he considered what to do next.
Loyal Sigmund decided to stay with Talyu. He wasn’t doing anything else, after all. There wasn’t anything he knew of that could be done about her condition, but that didn’t mean he ought to leave her.
Unfortunately, not long after that, they were attacked during the daytime by a gang of dogs. Sigmund stayed to fight them. Talyu should have stayed too, but she was afraid. She ran, to her eternal shame, and left Sigmund to fight.
Months passed, and Talyu became a creature of the night..half-dead, half-alive. In the daytime, she is very much alive..but at night she resembles nothing so much as an animated, rotting corpse. Her mind is strong and she can control the urge to spread her disease to other dogs, but this command of her own alternate personality is tenuous at best. She tries to avoid areas that are populated at night, for this reason, and rarely comes out except in the daytime.
Talyu spends the daytime looking for her brothers, Sigmund and Sigurd, and trying to find a cure for her sickness. She knows, however, that she won’t. Radiation isn’t something that can be cured. Talyu would be dead already if she hadn’t had the magic in her blood. She counts her blessings..but one can always hope.
YOUR DOG - TRANSFORMED

At night, Talyu is basically a walking corpse..or, at least, that’s what she most resembles. Talyu is mostly hairless, aside from occasional patches of very short blue fur, and therefore looks even thinner and bonier than usual. One can, here and there, see patches where her grayish skin has rubbed off and flesh or bone is visible. It’s kind of yuck.
Talyu at one point had bat wings. Now what wings she has are bat-like, but even more so for having no fur on them and being coal-black. She can still fly on them..the skin, aside from a rip here and there from accidents in fighting, is intact. Her eyes are blood-red and the pupils are very wide, so that she sees extremely well at night.
Talyu drools ickily and doesn’t smell very nice either. She appears to be basically rotting alive, and may at one point be a set of walking bones..if she lives that long. Talyu spends much of the night either looking for other dogs to take a chomp out of or trying to find somewhere safe to spend the dark hours. Both of these result in bad fights. If she wasn’t undead, she’d have been killed a long time ago. Fortunately for her, Talyu regenerates from most of her injuries..she has her share of scars, though, from the worst wounds.
Talyu can’t go into any kind of light, especially firelight, during the nighttime. During the daytime she has trouble with light as well and tries to stay in the shade. She does best in the morning or evening, but usually refuses to go in the sun at high noon.
personality; ;
Talyu’s personality at night is fairly similar to how she is in the daytime, but at nighttime she’s never..never..afraid of anything. She seems to have two opposing forces..the daytime Talyu, who does her best to avoid injuring any other dogs, and senseless rage that wants to tear apart anyone she comes across. Talyu mumbles to herself alot in the nighttime, arguing from one side to another.
This results in a tricky, impulsive dog who one moment is trying to warn others away and the next is inviting them to come over. She is always looking for an easy kill, but never makes one when she can. Talyu might be fearless during the dark time, but she’s always checking for daylight to come over the horizon, half-fearfully and half-eagerly. Crazy, in other words.
powers gained; ; undead (difficult, but not impossible to kill, apparently allergic to any kind of light, general rotting appearance), regeneration (wounds received in fights or by accident will heal themselves, although they leave scars if they are bad enough and if mortal will not heal..see Sigrar), flight (has wings.)
physical changes; ; bat wings, loss of fur, red eyes, emaciation, rot
